Shari Yonke, Office Manager
Shari has worked at Valley Animal Hospital since 2001. She is currently our office manager for the Clinic. She was born and raised in Thief River Falls. Graduated from Lincoln High School and went to Northland Community College for Sales and Marketing. In her spare time she enjoys sewing, making lefse, and especially traveling with her husband on motorcycle to the mountains and seeing the country. She has 2 little furbabies that are so much fun and entertaining. They are Willie, a 4 year old black Pomeranian, who is so loving, cuddly and full of spunk. And Coby, a 12 year old tabby cat, who is very laid back, lazy and loves to sit up on his tower and watch over his owners. Those 2 pets are great buddies that love to play-wrestle and even lay around together.
Amanda (Atsumy) Otsubo, Veterinary Technician
Amanda (Atsumy) has been working for Valley Animal Hospital since the summer of 2018 as a veterinary technician. As an animal healthcare provider Amanda enjoys bonding with her patients as she helps them through their medical journey. Amanda was raised in Cuiaba, Brazil and moved up to Minnesota during her study abroad program in 2015 at the
University of Minnesota Crookston. Amanda graduated from Federal University Mato Grosso with a Bachelor in Veterinary Medicine. In her spare time she enjoys spending time with her friends and her husband. Amanda has 3 furbabies, Ozzy a 13 year old sassy golden retriever, Lola an 11 year old attention-seeking basset hound, and Daniel, a cuddly orange cat who loves everyone.
Chloe Solheim, Veterinary Technician
Chloe has worked at Valley Animal Hospital since March of 2021 as a veterinary technician. But before that, she worked for Valley Animal Hospital for 2 summers on her way to becoming a technician. As a veterinary technician she enjoys caring for animals and helping them on their road to recovery. Chloe was raised in Fertile, MN and graduated from Crookston High School, she then went on to graduate with a Bachelor of Science degree from North Dakota State University’s veterinary technology program. In her spare time she enjoys hunting, going for boat rides, and spending time with family and friends. Her furbaby is a 9 year-old jack russell terrier mix named Rashaud, who is laid back in his old age, but loves leaving the house and going on adventures outdoors.
Hanna Risdal, Veterinary Assistant
Hanna has worked at Valley Animal Hospital since spring of 2021 as a veterinary assistant. She has a Bachelors of Science degree in Animal science with a Pre-veterinary emphasis from the University of Minnesota, Crookston. Hanna’s favorite part of the job is seeing the recovery of sick or injured animals and their happy faces. On her time off she enjoys spending time outside with her 2 year-old dog Nubs.
Madelyn Westlin, Veterinary Assistant
Madelyn has worked at Valley Animal Hospital as a veterinary assistant since the year of 2018. The part she enjoys most about her job is building connections with the patients and getting to see them again at their next visit. She attended Lincoln High School and following that she graduated from Northland Community and Technical College for Animal Science. In her spare time, she hangs out with her own pets. She has a 11 year-old Quarter Horse mare named Foxy and a six year-old male cat named Murray.
Lea Hasbargen, Veterinary Assistant
Lea started as the clinic housekeeper in 2020 while in her sophomore year at Lincoln High School and worked her way up to where she is now as a veterinary assistant and clinic caretaker. She is currently a senior in high school. She loves working at VAH making connections with patients and clients and learning new things everyday. She has several pets ranging from cows, goats – Opal and Tiny Tim, dogs- a 10 year-old cocker spaniel Buddy, a one year-old heeler aussie mix named Captain and 2 cats named Iris and Skyy (10 pets in all and growing!). Lea is the president of Thief River Falls FFA chapter. In her spare time she enjoys being outside, hanging out with friends and family and going on adventures.
Jeanne Olson, Veterinary Assistant
Jeanne started as an intern through Lincoln High School as a junior and then came and interned again as a senior. This summer is her first summer working as a veterinary assistant. She loves getting to work with animals and learning new things while working at the Clinic. In the fall she will be attending NDSU for Pre-Vet and majoring in Animal Science. She has two dogs Bubba, a black lab mix and Molly, a pit mix. In her free time she likes to spend time with friends and family.
Katheryn Melby, Veterinary Assistant
Katheryn started out as a part-time clinic housekeeper during her sophomore year in high school and worked her way up to where she is now as a veterinary assistant. She was raised here in Thief River Falls out in the country with her three cats, three dogs and a flock of chickens. She has always loved working at Valley Animal, with the fast paced and fun energy, and with all her great coworkers but most importantly the great learning experience that she gets from working here as well. Her favorite part working with clients’ pets is that no two pets are alike which is what makes it exciting and fun for her. She will be leaving Valley Animal in the fall of 2022 to pursue her degree to become a veterinary technician at Vermilion Community College in Ely.
